Dentures

Dublin area dentist offers high quality full dentures

There are situations which may occur that can cause patients in the Dublin area to lose several teeth within the smile. This may be the result of infection, disease, trauma, aging, extraction, or poor dental care. When patients are faced with tooth loss, they will often speak to their dentist about the many solutions available to repair their smile. There are three common restorative methods used to replace teeth which include dental implants, dental bridges, and dentures. One of the most economical solutions is that of dentures.

Dentures come in two varieties which include full dentures and partial dentures. Partial dentures are recommended to patients when they are dealing with the loss of one or several teeth within the arch. Patients who have lost an entire arch of teeth along the upper and/or lower dental arch are encouraged to learn about high quality full dentures which can allow them to smile, eat, and speak again without hesitation!

Full dentures are made of high quality acrylic and can be used to repair the smile when tooth loss becomes a serious issue. They look completely natural thanks to continued improvement in aesthetic dental work. Dr. Munira Lokhandwala of StarBrite Dental in Dublin can provide patients with amazing works of art to enhance their smile even after it has been affected by problems such as trauma and disease.

The process starts with an examination. Patients can discuss with Dr. Munira Lokhandwala the solutions available for restoration after tooth loss. This examination is the perfect time for her to perform x-rays and physically examine the smile. Then, she can discuss options with her patient. If full dentures are a viable solution, then she will proceed with extracting any remaining teeth and then take molds of the gums to create the dentures. In cases where patients will have implant-supported dentures, she will also perform oral surgery to place these implants and give them time to heal appropriately. Dentures are made to snap into the dental arch with these implants for optimum stability.

Full dentures can also be used without dental implants and can be held in place with natural suction or dental adhesives. Adjustments should be made regularly to ensure they fit properly and do not result in shifting or irritation that can be uncomfortable.
