Patients can lighten their smile approximately eight shades whiter using in-office power bleaching and do so in about one hour. The other method is in-home whitening. Unlike over-the-counter methods, the in-home whitening treatments available through StarBrite Dental are much more powerful and include a custom-fabricated tray that give precise application of the whitening gel to all the teeth in the arch.
Dr. Munira Lokhandwala can consult with patients to help them determine which whitening method is best. She needs to examine the smile and speak with the patient to determine if they are a good candidate. Patients with restorations including bridges, veneers, and crowns may not be advised to undergo professional whitening, as the gel does not lighten the restorations within the smile.
